Here are some basic needs and facts for goldfish:
1. They need at least a 10 gallon tank for each goldfish. 15-20 gallons if better though. Their tanks can be barebottom or have gravel but with the gravel, you need to make sure that it isnt too small that they can pick it up becuase if they pick it up, then they could choke. 2. The goldfish will eat certain plants, but of course not plastic. There are some really good websites out there that describe this more in detail. 3. The filter you need, this is the same for any type of tank, you need to take the gallons of your tank and multiply by 10 and your filter should have that much gph (gallons per housr). For example, if you have a 30 gallon tank, then you need a filter that has 300gph. 4. Other compatible fish are danios, corries, bristlenose pleco, many others, there are some great sites out there that explain and give a complete list. The most important thing though, is that tropical fish and goldfish can be mixed but both specicies will be very unhappy becuase goldfish like their water colder and tropical fish like their water heated and high temps than the goldfish.
There will be more basic facts about goldfish to come! Let me know if you think of anything that goes with what I have said that you think I should add and I will add it!
